Job Responsibilities
- Conduct geotechnical site investigations, including soil and rock testing.
- Analyze geological and geotechnical data to assess ground conditions.
- Design and evaluate foundations, slopes, retaining structures, and tunnels for hydropower facilities.
- Provide geotechnical recommendations for the construction and maintenance of dams, spillways, and powerhouses.
- Assess risks related to landslides, seismic activities, and soil erosion.
- Collaborate with civil engineers, structural engineers, and environmental specialists to optimize project designs.
- Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and risk assessments.
- Supervise geotechnical fieldwork and laboratory testing.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Utilize geotechnical modeling software for analysis and design recommendations.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in mega infrastructure or construction projects (experience in renewable energy projects is a plus but not mandatory).
- Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, FLAC, or similar).
- Fluency in English.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering.
- Experience in conducting geotechnical risk assessments and mitigation planning.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in field environments and travel to project sites as required.
- Knowledge of international geotechnical standards and best practices.
- Willingness to work in Thailand and Lao PDR initially for about a year and then relocate permanently to Lao PDR.
- Fluent in English both written and verbal (Minimum 750 TOEIC score).
