Job Position
Head of Logistics (Port Related) will lead the automated port construction, implementation and commercial developments of the port during the start-up phase and establish a state-of-the-art organization to accomplish its targets. The Managing Director is the prime point of contact of all stakeholders involved in construction and operational phase. Once the operations starts, the Managing Director will direct the organization towards its primary objectives, based on profit and return on capital, sustained growth projections, and development of new business and expansion of scope of business.
The successful candidate is responsible for building a strong and competent Management team and will have oversight for the progression of the organization from both a financial and operational perspective; ensuring that the ports, facilities and properties owned and operated by the port company are managed in accordance with the safety and security requirements of applicable local and international laws and regulations, maintaining a high productivity with cost-efficient operation.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a multi-year strategic plan for the port, aligned with strategic goals and objectives, and present it to the Board.
- Oversee the development and implementation of internal business policies, strategies, and objectives.
- Ensure strategic objectives are met by annually reviewing and revising strategies and business plans.
- Manage port construction, automated equipment installation, and implementation within budget and timeline.
- Represent the organization with key stakeholders, including customers, shareholders, and government authorities.
- Establish and manage automated port operations according to company policies and standards.
- Lead commercial activities to maximize container volume and develop new port-related revenue streams.
- Manage operational and business growth risks, including crisis management and business continuity.
- Oversee financial performance, prepare reports and budgets, and develop performance measures.
- Ensure port safety and security compliance with international standards and regulations.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in logistics, maritime and port, or process/industrial engineering, a marine qualification, or any related fields.
- Minimum 10 years’ progressive experience in the operation management of seaports or container terminal, or shipping line at a senior executive level, i.e. Chief Executive Officer or Senior Management.
- Experience in major constructions of superstructures and developing commercial activities.
- Experience in automated port operations, a significant asset management and planning, or a regulated business.
- Expertise in marine, shipping and logistics industry specific concepts, operational excellence, cost controlling and automation operating systems in seaports or container terminals.
- Proven strong commercial, strong leadership and influencing skills through excellent strategic thinking, with conceptual skills and commercial judgement.
- Good communication skills with the ability to communicate across the organization.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and a proven track record in building up and maintaining good relationships within the shipping industry, the local communities, and the government.
