Mechanical Engineer - Thermal/LNG Project

Job Responsibilities

• Lead and ensure mechanical design integrity for new oil and gas plant development by reviewing and approving engineering deliverables to comply with industry codes, project specifications, and international standards.

• Oversee and manage EPC Contractor activities throughout the full project lifecycle—engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning—to ensure timely delivery, budget control, and compliance with technical and quality requirements.

• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams including process, electrical, civil, instrumentation, and operations to align design interfaces, resolve conflicts, and ensure integrated project delivery with minimal rework.

• Review and validate technical documentation such as P&IDs, equipment datasheets, material selection, and 3D models to ensure alignment with project objectives and operational requirements.

• Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and HAZOP/HAZID studies to proactively identify and mitigate potential safety and reliability issues.

• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and promoting best engineering practices throughout the project.

• Actively promote a strong safety culture by enforcing SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) policies, participating in toolbox talks, safety audits, and ensuring that all mechanical design and site activities meet regulatory and company safety standards.

• Liaise with vendors and suppliers to review technical bids, clarify specifications, and ensure timely delivery and compliance of mechanical equipment and materials.

• Support construction and commissioning teams with field engineering support, troubleshooting, and ensuring smooth handover to operations with proper documentation and training.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Professional engineering license from the Council of Engineers is a plus.
• Understand basic overall process of oil and gas plants.
• Excellent knowledge in rotating machines such as Fans, Pumps, Compressors, and Gas Turbines with fluent application of the international industrial codes and standards such as API and ASME.
• Experience in cryogenic plants design and/or operation and maintenance is a plus.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with the development of green fields in the Oil and Gas business.
• Experience in rotating machines technical specification evaluation specific to Oil and Gas sector.
• Display the high performance with board guidelines with minimal supervision.
• Able to work under pressure and tight timeline. 
• Able to travel both domestically and upcountry.
• Fluent in English both written and verbal (Minimum 750 TOEIC score). 
• Ability to travel/work upcountry and abroad.
